ATP consistently engages in Research and Development to improve the performance of hopper car covering systems and outlet gates which to date has resulted in over 20 US Patents on its products and innovations. In addition, we have developed and patented GRIDcore, a unique panel construction technology that has proven to have a variety of potential applications both within and outside of the rail industry.
ATP’s current R&D focus is on aerodynamic devices for retro fit on coal cars. These devices are designed to allow major North American railroads to save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions. The analysis of possible savings has been completed and prototypes of the recommended devices are now in development.
